Doves are used to symbolize peace, freedom, and love. They appear in the Old Testament; Noah sends out the dove in hopes of a return response from the universe. The dove returns with a message in the form of an olive branch, signifying life returning to the earth. A symbol of forgiveness after the 40 days of rain which flooded the earth.
Using the Tarot Card motif, my Doves share the halo where day meets night. There is not only the dove of peace, but the mourning dove; symbolizing comfort and compassion.
The paraphrase of Psalm 40 expresses the hope and heart in the image of the doves:
Let your song give insight
To those who can not see.
May your compassion always
Shine forth from your heart.
