Sometimes my dream visions are nocturnal and subconscious, but more often it is my daydreams that are highly visual. The image of a half human and half beast is common in mythology. The half human and half bird of Homeric origin was called a harpy and represented the storm wind. Avian humanoids are gods in ancient Egypt. These motifs are also found in Roman, Hindu, and Persian mythology. Eagle’s Flight is the first in a series of “Animal Dreams”.

My personal experience of eagles is minimal, but for several seasons, I was able to observe a pair of bald eagles watching for salmon in the Russian River near my home. The eagles soaring in the up drafts would leave me breathless. When I dream of flying, it is to circle high, detached, and observant calling into the wilderness.

Bald Eagles are highly revered and considered sacred in American Indian traditions. The Roman, French, and American republics adopted the eagle as their symbol of victory and freedom. The eagle signifies inspiration, strength, and is attributed with second sight.

The noble Eagle is found in the Animal Spirit guides; all pervading power, truth seeker and transforms karma.

The icon border is embroidered with the symbols of victory, the laural wreath and glory star. The corners carry the symbols of (clockwise) the Egyptian third eye of Ra Horus, winged sun disk one of the most ancient celestial symbols, the 7th trumpet of the second coming, and the lightening bolts of sudden illumination.
