The icon of Georgia O’Keefe is the Prophet Artist. She was determined and focused, pushing herself and her work forward through an era that marginalized women in the art world. Georgia O’Keefe was always committed to be HER SELF.

The floating image of Georgia as a “Saint” is my interpretation of the giant flowers or skulls that O’Keefe hovered in a world all their own. The world I created for Georgia celebrates her ever changing landscape; Lake George in up-state New York to Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. Her fascination with the reflections of hills in water evolved into the stark sun on the cliffs around Abiquiu, her desert home. Her sensual observation of found objects is monumental, a giant red Canna flower or sun-bleached mesa.

Crowning Georgia is a halo, the broach designed for O’Keefe by Alexander Calder; she wore it many different ways as a talisman.
