There is an underlying divine essence in every living being. A celebration of the “god-like” qualities can be humorous and irreverent when applied to one’s family. Neptune Bob is my vision of my eldest son, Bobby, in the guise of Neptune, King of the Sea. Bobby was born a Pisces. As a dedicated surfer and strong swimmer, he is at home in the ocean on his board. I see him as a royal merman with a luxurious fish-tail and a halo-crown made of shells ruling the waves with his trident in hand and a necklace of kelp. No icon is complete without attendant putti. Neptune Bob’s angels are sea horses announcing the god-king’s approach with megaphones equipped with Rolling Stone lips calling forth his praise. Even the Sun and the Moon, in rapturous embrace, shine on Neptune Bob.
